Cazinc The Label – Ethical Statement
The world doesn’t need another fast-fashion brand, which is why Cazinc The Label is committed to designs that don’t date, quality fabrics that last, and ethical production processes that ensure our clothes are 100 per cent cruelty-free.
As a modern business, we must constantly strive to reduce the impact our actions have on the environment and society. We have a responsibility to find an ethical and meaningful existence in the fashion world, from the materials we use to the working conditions of the people who make our clothes and how we package and transport the finished product.
We’re not saying we have all the answers, but we believe the road to better is through progress, not perfection. We are committed to continuously improving our business practices for the greater good of people and the planet.
Our Code of Conduct
We developed Cazinc The Label’s Code of Conduct to ensure we maintain the highest standards of social, economic and environmental sustainability at every stage of our value chain. Our Code of Conduct is based on internationally-respected minimum guidelines set by the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) and the International Labour Organization.
The ETI Base Code states:
- Employment is freely chosen; there is no forced, bonded or involuntary prison labour.
- Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining are respected; workers have the right to join or form trade unions of their choosing and to bargain collectively.
- Working conditions are safe and hygienic.
- Child labour shall not be used.
- Living wages are paid.
- Working hours are not excessive.
- No discrimination is practised in hiring, compensation, access to training, promotion, termination or retirement.
- Regular employment is provided.
- No harsh or inhumane treatment is allowed; physical abuse or discipline, the threat of physical abuse, sexual or other harassment and verbal abuse or other forms of intimidation shall be prohibited.
All of Cazinc The Label’s supply chain partners must adhere to our ethical, social and environmental standards. We demand total transparency from every company we work with, including agents, traders, manufacturers, farmers, and subcontractors. Social compliance audits are performed regularly to ensure safe and hygienic work conditions, an engaged and motivated workforce, strong governance and accountability, and payment of fair wages. If we determine a company is not compliant, we will seek a new partner who shares our vision to work together to achieve a better future.
Reducing our carbon footprint
Trends come and go, but our designs have always been inspired by the timeless silhouettes that form the foundations of a stylish wardrobe. We believe in classic cuts and quality construction to create pieces that women can mix and match and return to season after season.
The fashion industry’s environmental footprint has been well documented, and we have a responsibility to our customers, our staff, our suppliers and our community to find ways to reduce it.
We have already made significant progress in our goal, from incorporating eco-friendly materials and finding new ways to minimise fabric and production wastage through to introducing measures for zero-waste packaging and postage. We are proud to have been recognised for our efforts, winning the 2021 Ethical Label of the Year at the Australian Enterprise Awards.
However, we know we are at the beginning of our journey, and we are committed to actively working together with our suppliers to identify and implement more environmentally sustainable solutions.
1. Fabric & Production
When our garments are being cut, we use the complete roll of fabric rather than selecting the units we require to ensure we have no wastage with fabric.
2. Sustainable sourcing
Cazinc The Label’s manufacturers, suppliers and collaborators share the same vision in terms of sustainability and being eco-conscious as we do.
3. Going Green
We encourage and inspire consumers to consider the environment when purchasing clothes. Our label's clothes are created to be mixed and matched. They are tran-seasonal designs, perfect for wearing in different styles to coordinate with customers existing wardrobe favourites.
4. Shopping bags
CTL is dedicated to zero waste with the usage of environmental bags for packaging and postage.
Cazinc The Label will not be taking any shortcuts in our journey to become a more eco-conscious fashion label. We aim to look for more sustainable options within all areas of our brand from production to shipping.
